The Mayor of Punta Arenas Vladimiro Mimica launched today the Winter Celebration 2010, in a meeting held at Cabo de Hornos hotel with representatives of all the city activities.

"We'll do it just by heart", said Mayor Mimica, since the earthquake which damaged an area of the country won't allow the expenses such activity demands, so he called businessmen and all the city members to collaborate with this great Patagonian winter celebration.

Mayor emphasized the Folklore Festival, which is part of the Winter Celebration, will have important artists from Chile and Argentina, all of who won't receive payment for their acting. Is the case of Chilean group Quilapayun coming to Punta Arenas directly from Paris; the Argentinean Los 4 de Cordoba and the Guitarreros, winners of Argentinean Cosquin folklore festival.

The 2010 Winter Celebration will start the first day of July with youth Olympics, electing a Queen and her crowning, a national child show of cueca, the national dance, an artistic and gastronomic exhibit from native ethnic, cultural activities with poetry recites on streets, movies and the thirstiest Folklore Festival to end with the Winter Carnival.
