The National Tourism Service (Sernatur), National Oil Company (Enap) and Chilean Antarctic Institute (Inach) signed an agreement to create a tourism-scientific circuit with geological information on Magallanes landscape milestones, international recognized, presented on bilingual signs named Geosites, using resources, knowledge and professionals for that purpose.
The study, design and construction of 10 geosites, distributed in 16 signs in Punta Arenas, San Gregorio, Torres del Paine, Río Verde and Laguna Blanca, aims to transmit geological information among tourists and national and international community on the most relevant landmarks national and tourism of southern Patagonia geography.
Marking the difference is an issue for Ruta 9, which is got by giving priority to a service of quality.

Expecting to arrive to the South Pole around New Year’s Day 2010, theKaspersky Commonwealth Antarctic Expedition will see 8 women from theCommonwealth countries of Cyprus, Ghana, India, Singapore, Brunei, NewZealand, Jamaica and the United Kingdom brave blizzards, crevasses andtemperatures below -30C as they ski over 900 kilometers across Antarcticato the Geographic South Pole.
Marking the 60th anniversary of the Commonwealth, the expedition aims todemonstrate the potential of greater intercultural understanding andexchange, while at the same time highlighting the achievements of womenacross the world. The team members will be the first person from theirnation to ski to the South Pole.
The students who won a trip to Antarctica due to the quality of their scientific projects in VI Antarctic School Fair belong to the cities of Copiapo, Santiago, Concepcion and La Union. The groups who got first and second places in experimental and bibliographic categories besides the prize to Antarctic Spirit, will be part of the 6th School Antarctic Expedition in March of 2010, starting celebration of Chilean Bicentennial in the Frozen Continent.
