Senator Carlos Bianchi proposed to the President of Argentina, CristinaFernandez, building a bridge on the Strait of Magellan, to join the continent with Tierra del Fuego Island.On a relaxed half an hour meeting of the Vice-president of the Senate, Carlos Bianchi and senator Guillermo Vasquez with the President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, on her recent visit to our country, Bianchi, who also presides the Chile-Argentina Friendship Group,proposed to the President of Argentina the building of a bridge with funds from both countries in the Primera Angostura area of the Strait of Magellan

Bianchi said the Argentinean leader showed herself fond of the idea and instructed her Ministers to add the possibility to the Integration and Cooperation Treaty signed by Chile and Argentina.

He recalled “Tierra del Fuego has a duty free zone treatment on the Argentinean side so it is a fundamental development pole for both countries and would allow our country a more fluent relationship in exploitation and export of hydrocarbons”.-
