RESTORATION OF HISTORIC HOUSE ON PUERTO YARTOU
historiaSwiss Ambassador in Chile Andre Regli visited Puerto Yartou, in Tierra del Fuego and the facilities which will be restored to create the Alberto Baeriswyl Pittet Museum, remembering the first Swiss immigration to Magallanes. Veronika Fischer, who coordinates the Swiss Presence program and the president of “Swiss in Puerto Yartou”, Maria Teresa Bohm Baeriswyl, accompanied the ambassador.

MABP Patagonia Project will restore de administration house of the lumber industry founded by the son of Swiss immigrants, Alberto Baeriswyl Pittet, and make it a site museum, recovering and important memory of a work done by colonist and their descendants in what was called the Golden Age of Magallanes.

The project is sponsored by Swiss Embassy in Chile, Chilean Embassy in Switzerland and the Bicentennial Committee of the Chilean Government

The museum will show record son Swiss immigration to Magallanes and the developing of lumber industry and a space with individual accounts, genealogic trees, pictures, articles and other different ways of telling a family past.

On the other hand, MABP Patagonia will strengthen tourism on the southern territory of the country, which has called foreign attention on sport fishing and watching of vernacular flora and fauna.
