 Two representatives from the city of Bellingham, Washington, came to PuntaArenas and exchanged ideas on joint projects, being sister cities both ofthem. The sisterhood was subscribed by Mayoress Nelda Panicucci onDecember 16th of 1988.
Since then there has been an important student’s exchange, especially withlocal school Miguel de Cervantes, whose principal Maria Angelica Mimicavisited Mayor Vladimiro Mimica along with representatives of BellinghamCami Ostman, a member of Bellingham council of sister cities, and BillPech, a professor from Western Washington University. Both of themexplained the council of sister cities has people especially dedicated toits six sister cities. The one in charge of Punta Arenas is TeresaVanhalen.
Both representatives from Bellingham and Mayor Mimica agreed to exchangechild orchestras and maybe to bring Bellingham athletes and artists toPunta Arenas in December, to celebrate the anniversaries of the agreementand of the city of Punta Arenas. |
