 Second degree burns were diagnosed to French citizen Thibaut Derville, 52, who was admitted to Puerto Williams Navy Hospital stable under observation. Derville, crewmember of yacht “Esprit d’Equipe”, suffered burns on face, neck and chest when spilling boiling water while the boat was at Puerto Toro, at the east extreme of Navarino Island on Tuesday 14th.
French citizen Marcel Marie Gagnie Thierry, yacht’s captain, required support to Chilean maritime authority in order to evacuate the injured to Puerto Williams. Beagle Naval District Command, under the authority of Naval Third Zone, ordered “Alacalufe” boat an emergency set sail to Puerto Toro, with the assistance of a Navy nurse in order to transport the injured to Puerto Williams, where they arrived on Wednesday dawns. |
