Company Delfín Marino, which supports aquiculture activities, expeditions, sea and submarine research, named its new multipurpose ship "Del Mar II" to satisfy needs of the region, trusting in the future and sustainable development of aquiculture.

The project of building the ship, fit to Magallanes climate conditions, is the fourth one supported by CORFO, as much in engineering as in construction, said Francisco Carrasco, general manager of Delfin Marino Company. The ship has 12 people capacity and may develop 7 to 10 knots speed and completely equipped for scientific prospecting, with submarine video cameras, dredger, currentmeters and tidegraphs, satellite navigation systems and other implements.

This multipurpose ship is supporting four regional strategic areas, aquiculture, science and research, submarine works and selective tourism.

The project supported by CORFO created 13 permanent jobs and received a 22 million pesos benefit, a 13 per cent of the whole investment.
