Está ubicado a 80 millas náuticas al sureste de Punta Arenas. Ocupa un área montañosa donde destaca la Cordillera Darwin. Tiene un gran número de glaciares y ventisqueros que se descuelgan por las laderas de sus montañas hacia los distintos fiordos, senos y canales. Posee una superficie de 1.460.000 hectáreas.
DE AGOSTINI NATIONAL PARK
This park, located 80 nautical miles southeast of Punta Arenas, includes the Cordillera Darwin (Darwin Mountain Range). There are a large number of glaciers that come down off the sides of the mountains into the fjords, inlets and channels. The park covers 1.460.000 hectares.
GLACIAR MARINELLI
Es el más hermoso y extenso. Luego de cruzar el Estrecho de Magallanes se penetra en el Canal Whiteside, entre Isla Dawson y Tierra del Fuego; al sureste de la entrada del canal, se abre la gran Bahía Inútil; pasado el canal, el barco se interna en el Seno Almirantazgo, bordea la Cordillera Darwin y en Bahía Ainsworth se halla el Glaciar Marinelli de imponentes paredones de hielo de una altura de casi 40 metros.
FIRST ROUTE: MARINELLI GLACIER
This is the most extensive and beautiful route in the park. The trip starts by crossing the Strait of Magellan and entering the Canal Whiteside which flows between Isla Dawson and Tierra del Fuego. To the northeast of the entrance to the Canal Whiteside is the opening to Bahía Inútil (Useless Bay). Passing through Whitesidem, the boat enters Seno Almirantazgo (Almirantazgo Inlet) and follows the Cordillera Darwin to Bahía Ainsworth where the Marinelli Glacier is located. This glacier has huge walls of ice measuring almost 40 meters in height. Depending on the tour company, the boat either returns to Punta Arenas or continues on the route described next.
GLACIAR DE AGOSTINI
Se inicia en Punta Arenas, bordeando la Península de Brunswick; pasando por la Bahía de Agua Fresca, más al sur se llega a Punta Santa Ana, donde se encuentran Puerto del Hambre, Fuerte Bulnes y Faro San Isidro. Luego de alcanzar la cuadra del Cabo Froward, el barco se interna por el canal Magdalena, continuando por el Seno Keats que conduce a los fiordos Martínez y De Agostini, siendo este último el más atractivo pues permite desembarcar sobre los hielos del glaciar protegido en sus costados por altas barreras de montañas.
SECOND ROUTE: AGOSTINI GLACIER
This trip starts in Punta Arenas, goes along the shores of Brunswick Peninsula, passes the Bahía de Agua Freca (Fresh Water Bay), and comes to Punta Santa Ana to the south. Puerto del Hambre (Port Famine) is located on this point, as well as Fuerte Bulnes and the Faro San Isidro (San Isidro Lighthouse). After passing Cabo Froward (Cape Froward), the boat enters the Canal Magdalena and continues on to Seno Keats (Keats Inlet) and the Martínez and De Agostini fjords. The De Agostini fjord is the most beautiful fjord to visit, and it also has a dock near the glacier.
